Gypsy Schnitzel

Ingredients
  • 4 Pork Steaks (boneless)
  • 1 egg (beaten with one tablespoon water)
  • 1 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 medium onion (sliced -substitute celery and asophoedita)
  • 2 tbsp Shortening or oil
  • 1 green bell pepper (cut into thin strips)
  • 1 red bell pepper (cut into thin strips)
  • 1 4 oz can sliced mushrooms (drained)
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • bouillon cube
  • 1 tbsp cornstartch
  • salt
  • paprika
  • chili powder
Instructions
  1. Sprinkle steaks with salt and pepper and dip into egg mixture and and bread crumbs.  Fry in shortening until brown on both sides.

    Remove steak add onion and peppers to drippings and sauté a couple of minutes.  Add mushrooms, water, and bouillon cube and bring to boil.  Make a paste with cornstarch and a tablespoon cold water.  Pour into the sauce and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.  Season with salt, paprika, and chili powder to taste.  Add steaks, simmer 5-10 minutes and serve.
