Sauerkraut Casserole (German Lasagna)

Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 8 juniper berries (Hyp allergie to juniper)
  • 2 15 oz. cans sauerkraut
  • 1 cup water
  • 8 oz. wide noodles
  • 1 smoked b. sausage sliced
  • 1 cup ½ sour cream
Instructions
  1. Drain sauerkraut, place in pot. Add water, caraway seeds, juniper berries and simmer 35-40 minutes. Cook noodles according to directions on package and drain. In a large greased casserole place half of the sauerkraut, 1/2 of the sausage slices, all the noodles, top with the other half of sausage slices and cover with the rest of the sauerkraut. Spread sour cream on top and bake in a preheated oven at 400° for 30-40 minutes.
    For Lasagna, use Lasagna Noodles, and double the recipe for other ingredients. layer ingredients in order of Sauerkraut, Keilbasa, Noodles, Sour Cream.
